Nightcap National Park (Whian Whian)
Hi all,
Nightcap national park is in NSW about 30 kilometres north of Lismore and 30 kilometres south-east of Murwillumbah. To stay at Whian Whian will cost you AU$10.00 per person per night for Camping only. It is not set up for camper-trailers. A stunning setting in the national park. I noticed early in the mornings when people start getting up and lighting fires it is probably better described as smokey hollow with all the morning camp fires starting up. But in saying that it is still a beautiful place to wake up in. Fire wood is supplied. There is a communal camp kitichen. Two types of toilets are available. One is non flush (utilising biochemical treatment) and an interesting self flush toilet. Multipul walks are available from Whian Whian camping grounds. Take the Boggy Creek walk for 2 hrs which will bring you to the top of Minyon Falls. Your choice then is to take the 4-5hr walk across the top of the gorge down to the base of the Falls. In MY OPINION only, Minion Falls surpass any falls I have seen in the Top End of Australia (Northern Territory for non Australians). The walk to the base of the falls see's walkers CLIMBING monoliths to get to the waterfall pools at the bottom, (so not recommended to the very young or those who have major disabilities.) However in saying that, the walk in is well worth it. From the car park at Minyon Grass which is a 1.5 hour walk in see's the walker traverse a well tracked downward slope of 1:7, dropping 70mtrs over 500 mtrs of track. You will experience bushland eucylpt forest to subtropical rainforest at the bottom. In summer the waterfall pools at the bottom will be very very popular. Bring you own water when hiking and definately when camping. Whian Whain offers the opportunity to see Koala's, Spotted Tail Quols and Platapus in the crystal clear creeks.

My virgin blog
Hi to all, this is my very first, virgin blog, I am rather unsure of the ethic's or protocols of blogging, but I am sure someone may let me know, as is with all things in life, it is a learned experience.
Any hoo, I'm an Australian male (Aussie bloke) who loves to go camping anywhere there is nature to be found, and lets face it thats just about every where (with the exception of All Capital Cities). I endevour to post all my camping travels here so other like minded people can possibly see what it's like and view pictures of where I have been. I hope other like minded people out there will check it out and let me know of there experiences and likewise there recommendations.
